The development history of PEEK material:
1978: British ICI Company developed PEEK
1980: Polyetheretherketone was applied in the field of human medicine
1988: It was confirmed to be applicable to the oral cavity
2004: Polyetheretherketone was applied in the dental field
2018: Chinese suppliers collaborated with universities to develop this project
2020: DT DENTURE® matured, and dental restorations were produced.
What is PEEK material?
PEEK is a thermoplastic polymer material. Its basic material, PEEK, has already been used in implantable orthopedic materials. However, the mechanical properties of pure PEEK are difficult to meet the application requirements of complex oral environments. But by adding different types of particle materials, the mechanical strength and biocompatibility can be improved to meet different repair needs.
Structure and composition:
It is composed of polyetheretherketone (95%), titanium oxide (4/97%~5%), and pigments (iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow) (0.02%~0.03%).
It has higher hardness, elastic modulus and surface polishability than pure PEEK material.
